A FREE community meal made with love from the discards of our wasteful society, in celebration of Buy Nothing Day – a holiday designed to get people thinking about how workers, the environment, and animals are harmed in making the products we buy, and about all the good things we can do with our time instead of shopping. It’s a celebration of what can happen when you get OUT of the shopping mall, get your hands OUT of your wallet, and GET TOGETHER… and a rebellion against the oppression caused by our profit-driven system. Media WILL be welcome with appointment.

BLIND SPOT is a documentary that establishes the inextricable link between the energy we use, the way we run our economy and the effect it has had on our environment. It takes as a starting point the inevitable energy depletion scenario know as Peak Oil to inform us that by whatever measure of greed, wishful thinking, neglect or ignorance, we are at a crossroad which offers two paths, both with dire consequences. If we continue to burn fossil fuels our ecology will collapse and if we don’t, our economy will. Either path we choose to take will have a profound effect on our way of life. Our book group reads and discusses books on topics relevant to freeganism. This week will be looking at scheduling future book group meetings, and deciding on a book to read. Bring suggestions for our next book! If you cannot find us or have any questions, call (203) 571-8866. Not open to media.

Join us for an organizational meeting to report on working group activities and discuss and decide on policies and activities. Meetings are for freegan.info volunteers and people interested in volunteering, and are not educational presentations or introductory discussions about freeganism. After, we will explore the area’s wasted food and other goods. The meeting is NOT open to media, but the trash tour WILL be open to media that have scheduled in advance.
