Our monthly dinner, held in a rotating series of homes of New York freegans, is a friendly occasion with excellent food prepared with what we find on Tuesday's trash tour. Everyone helps prepare the meal. We'll be ready to eat between 8:00 and 8:30, and we're cleaned up and ready to go home by about 10:30pm. You do not have to be a skilled chef to join us; just willing to help however you can (set a table, tend to compost and trash, clean veggies or wash dishes). Our meals are mostly vegan (no meat, eggs or dairy) and full of variety. There is generally more than plenty, and those who attend often go home with leftovers and surplus ingredients. Please don't bring non-freegan beverages. RSVP to Madeline, ask@freegan.info, or Janet, (347) 724-6954, as there is limited space. You will get the address and directions at that time. This event will be open to the media, by prior arrangement only. For more information, see http://freegan.info

Newcomers are always welcome, but our trailblazes are best for experienced foragers who are interested in helping us explore a neighborhood we are less familiar with to add to our long list of locations to recommend to others. Not a sure bet-- you may not find the same abundance as on our "established" routes-- but you may go home with unexpected treasures. NOT open to media, so a good one for the camera shy. Our starting point will be the Astor Place Cube, on the triangle formed by 8th Street/St. Mark's, Lafayette and 4th Avenue. Coming by subway? Take the 6 to Astor or R/W to Broadway. If you get there late (please don't be late, we'll be on the move!) or can't find us, call Janet's cell at 347-724-6954.
