Friday, June 26-Freegavaganza!

In this event, we reunite after dumpsterdiving various neighborhoods throughout the city, or even its surroundings, and show an enormous display of still just a sampling of what New York City discards in one evening. Those who know what neighborhood they will search do not have to meet in advance. (they should contact Janet the day before to let her know, so as not to duplicate sites).

When & Where: First-timers may come to Union Square at 8:30, meeting across the street from Barnes and Noble (17th Street) to figure out where to go and to form pairs/teams. We will have the display on 14th Street in Union Square, on the steps across the street from Whole Foods at 10:45. Try to be on time.

So much fun! I'm thinking about doing my own exploring eventually to help out more on the next one :)

Hey, guys! I'm a newbie to this, so I just had a question. What do we bring? Gloves? Bags? Masks? Other things?

Tammy, sorry we missed you happen last time, I don't know if you happened to call one of us. I think it was raining and we thought not too many people are going to show up and may have left right on time or 5 minutes early. I've posted Janet's cell number this time as well just in case you don't happen to find us.

Elizabeth, We usually carry the food in reused plastic bags ( you can get a few from home if you want ) or granny carts if we happen to find a lot of food. I'm looking for the dumpster diving map, I'll post it shortly.
